I watched on line videos and then tore into it. I'm pretty mechanical so it was really easy albeit messy given there is a lot of grease to deal with. I used a 1/2 roll of paper towels to thoroughly clean out the unit once I got it apart. Reassembly was easy as well. The parts manual for the mixer is available on-line as well and this helps.
