I watched the video on this site showing how to remove the agitator and install the new one. I used the technique recommended in the video of looping a rope around the bottom of the agitator to help provide leverage as pulling it up with my hands would not loosen it. Once I got the rope adjusted around the bottom the agitator was easy to remove. The whole repair took about ten minutes. I couldn't have done it without the helpful video.
