Gary W Conover , NC May 19, 2015 Refrigerator would not defrost lots of ice on rear wall of refrigerator After finding an excellent video on Youtube that addressed the exact problem I had, I ordered: a defrost heater and also replaced the Thermo Bimetal-Protec, and a sensor. The biggest problem was getting the ice that had formed on the back of my refrigerator to melt. I allowed this to happen on its own without applying heat as I feared heat may damage some of the plastic parts on the refrigerator. This took a couple of days but had completely melted by the time the parts arrived. Installation of the parts was simple and by the next morning the refrigerator was cooled to the appropriate temperature. All seems to be working just fine. The parts cost around $65. I would guess this would have been at least a $200 - $300 repair had it been done by a serviceman. Happy!! 24 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
