After some research, I decided that the ice dispensing issue was a faulty dispenser. If you listen carefully you will hear a click when the paddle is depressed. It didn’t have that click.
I ordered the dispenser unit and received it in about 5 days. I disassembled the old dispenser which included disconnecting the ground wire, and two other wire assemblies which came apart with some difficulty, and disconnected the water plastic tube for reuse. I reconnected the two wire harnesses and the plastic tube and reattached the plastic water hose and ground wire.
I also had to remove the paddle from the old unit and assemble it to the new unit.
Voila!! The ice dispenser works again.
