Pulled the dishwasher out and found mouse feces and wet urine on top. I assumed infestation was a result of an open hole in wallboard with the house wiring coming through it to the dishwasher. The insulation tub was completely fouled, smelly and torn from nest building. I sealed the hole with sealant, wired in a plug outlet box and wired a plug wire to the dishwasher. The smell was still fierce inside the cabinet after repeated various washings so I got epoxy resin and hardener, mixed them and painted all inside surfaces with the mix before it set up, about 15 minutes.
After the epoxy set up and completely dried there was no smell any more. I installed the new insulation tub, re-installed the dishwasher, ran two loads looking for leaks or problems and everything seems fine.
