One side or the dryer down, a 25 year old Maytag, it was pretty obvious that I needed a belt, drum rollers, and a new blower wheel. What was astonishing was that it was running at all. I also ascertained that I should replace the felt on the front and back of the drum. Total cost of parts for this repair was still less then just the labor of one visit. Without a doubt, the hardest part of the repair was trying to hold the drum in place and get all the new felt positioned properly, and there was also a problem where the new blower wheel was rubbing inside the housing and I had to take it apart a couple of times to figure out what I did wrong, which was that there was a little piece of plastic left behind the wheel that I didn't notice the first time and the tolerances in there are pretty tight in order to move the air flow properly. It was definitely not just a one person job, because at one point I had my son stick his arms in the front of the unit and hold the belt in place with the ribs up so that I could get the belt routed properly around the idler pulley.
