In any repair situation one has to diagnose the problem. At first my refrigerator stop cooling, or freezing. I had the situation before, not with this part, but with the main board for the refrigerators temperature controls. (I got that part from AppliancePartsPros.com as well). This time I noticed that a clicking sound was coming from the rear of the refrigerator. It seemed the compressor was trying to start, it ran for 5 to 10 seconds and then a loud click.
After removing the back. I noticed that certain --ahem--- insects had moved in on the capacitor, and starter relay. My guess is that they had shorted it out. It made diagnosing the problem a lot easier...and some Combat will help insure our little uninvited guests never return.
(I gambled on whether it was the capacitor or relay, my deduction was that since the capacitor didn't have any moving parts and was completely sealed lowered the chances of it being faulty, the relay on the other hand had enough room for them to get in, and short out the overload switch.).
