Replaced the Electronic Circuit Board, part number AP2832721, which resolved the problem. It also resolved the issue with the two hood lights that stopped working a few years ago, which I couldn't figure out. Turn off the circuit breaker that feeds the range hood. Remove the three filters, and while they're out, you might as well run them through the dishwasher. Remove the right and left stainless steel stops that prevent the filters from being pushed up into the housing. Two stainless steel torx metal screws hold them in place. Once they're removed, you can now remove the two philips head screws on each on either end that hold the light/control housing in place. Disconnect the necessary wires. Now you can remove the black housing that holds the circuit board. There's one screw that holds it in place, once removed, the housing will swing in toward the wall. Carefully remove the 4 screws that hold the top of the black housing in place, noting the position of the wires wheres they enter the housing on the top. They will have to go back in the same way for the housing cover to seat flush. Please observer how the circuit board is seated in the housing before removal. Write down or label each wire before you remove them from the existing circuit board, which will allow you connect them to the new circuit board correctly. Once you connect all of the wires, to the new circuit board, CAREFULLY insert it back into the housing, and VERY IMPORTANT, carefully tighten the screws so they're almost snug. Anymore, and the plastic will crack (I cracked one), which makes sense given the intense heat that it's been exposed to over the years. Reassemble everything, and you should be good to go, and probably save yourself $500. 21 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
