Then, we ordered the part online and shipping was fast. We followed the instructions for replacing the spring and putting the machine back together. We are greatly satisfied for 3 reasons: 1) It saved a repair charge 2) It's greatly satisfying to figure out something and be able to fix the problem yourself, just like the days back on the farm when my dad tackled all repairs inside and outside the house as a matter of necessity. 3) The new washing machines have features that don't appeal to me.
