After coming to AppliancePartsPros.com, I read the same problem I had AND that there was a 99% chance the problem was the thermal part. That was my problem too.
Unplug electrical cord on washer. On top of washer on the back, three screws held control panel in place. Unscrew them, tilt control unit with knobs forward, remove temperature knob on front, unsnap thermal unit, unplug four wires one at a time, replug four wires into new thermal unit one at a time, snap new thermal unit back into place, slide knob on in front, tilt control unit back into upright position, put three screws back in. Plug electrical cord back in on washer.
Hot water worked immediately, when turned on. Ran a load of towels to check for leaks.
Shortcut, this is all electrical, leave the hot/cold hoses alone. I never even shut the water off. There's no need to remove them, saves time and no chance for leaks. I left mine on the entire time, no issues at all.
