Replaced with the user interface control board.
Searching many YouTube videos, I found many that covered similar issues as mine. One, in particular, mentioned preliminary events as I had, ie tones when not in use. That was most helpful because it directed me to the panel control. While one video went step by step to troubleshoot, I used a voltage tester to verify power to the door panel controls, bypassing the need to dismantle electrical units under the dishwasher.
Removing the door and dismantling went textbook to this website video. Assembly and reattaching the door went as well too. The dishwasher works just as if it were new again.
