I ordered a defrost timer and a defrost thermostat for my Frigidaire freezer. I ordered them to come in two days and they did! I moved the freezer out to get to the back. The defrost timer was right there and very easy to get to. I replaced it in less than 5 minutes. I knew from experience in takes a couple of days for the temperature to reach an equilibrium. Two full days the freezer is now down to 6 degrees. I expect it will get to zero soon. I urge any do-it-yourself types to heed my advice and allow two or three whole days after replacing the timer!
I did not replace the thermostat. I decided to just keep it because I may need to replace it later. The parts are very reasonably priced. I am very grateful for your website. I saved at least a $200 service call or the cost of a new freezer for $525. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
