Larry D Bentonville , AR October 04, 2015 Appliance: Samsung Washer WF306LAW/XAA-0000 Samsung Washer Wf306law/Xaa-0000 / : Washer sound like a freight train? seal failed ruining bearings. How to replace Washer Damper Shock Absorber. My washer began to emit a roaring noise, especially during the spin cycle. After a little research I determined that the likely culprit was seal and bearing failure plaguing front-load washing machines. I disassembled my Samsung WF306LAW/XAA in order to gain access to the three bearings. Identifying the three distinct bearing sizes from the failed parts, I was able to source a seal+bearings kit from a few Internet suppliers. After cleaning off the flange shaft assembly I could tell by the loose fit of the drive shaft/spindle through the bearings that it had been hopelessly 'grooved' by the failed bearings and also needed replacement. Having serviced a family of seven since 2007, the Samsung washer's two front shocks were also shot. I identified and ordered the correct flange shaft assembly and shocks (OEM and competitive pricing and shipping) from AppliancePartsPros.com, of course. After receiving the parts and reassembling the machine, I left the top and back off and carefully observed its operation. I noticed that the water guide assembly had been leaking from toward the front area of the plastic seam, probably for years. I carefully coated the seam with PVC cement which I had on hand, allowing it to cure for a couple of hours between the three coats. The washer is now leak free, runs more smoothly, and is more quiet than we can remember. Net Bottom Line: This washer retailed for more than $1,000 new, and the replacement price for similar functionality would have easily topped $1,000 again. Thanks to a seal/bearing supplier and AppliancePartsPros.com, I overhauled it myself for less than $160. 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours
