Jeffrey P Saugerties , NY November 10, 2014 Appliance: Model MAYTAG PAV2000AWW Washer started filling with water loaded clothes after filling cycle stopped nothing else happened I disconnected power and water lines, removed front panel, reconnected power, selected spin cycle and pulled out the cycle dial; just heard a loud humming noise and motor jogged slightly; tried that several times with no change. I then disconnected power, removed the drive belt and tried it again; same results. To me that meant the motor was bad. I searched every square inch of this old Maytag washer and there was no model number anywhere to be found anywhere - inside, outside, top, bottom, all panels - nothing. Fortunately the motor had some numbers on it so I started searching the internet with that information and finally found the motor on applianceparts.com. I ordered it and had it in 2 days; it was an exact match for a washer that is 20 years old. From that information I finally tracked down the model number of the washer. Swapped out the motor, put the belt back on, ran a wash cycle with no problems, and then put the covers back on and it was good to go! The only thing I regret is not ordering a new belt when I ordered the motor. I found one at a local shop. Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
