Found that this was a common problem with washers, lid switch failures. After watching a couple of youtube videos, I could see that it was an easy repair. The switch is located on the top of the washer, so I would not have to take the machine apart. I ordered the part from AppliancePartPros.
Because they had a video showing the replacement of the exact part that I ordered. Unlike the video, I had trouble removing the console because the screw on the right side would not come out. Fortunately, I was able to tilt back the right side to get to the switch, which pops right out when the lid is raised. Easy repair and my washer is running like new.
