Scott K Sumas , WA July 19, 2016 Appliance: Model LG TROMM Washing machine was getting quite loud My best guess was that it was the bearings. And I was right! I followed the instructions on the video from this site. The video was very good, so I didn't really face any real surprises. The job took me about 5 hours. Realistically, I probably spent at least 2 hours of that cleaning the parts. The drums and the main gasket took a fair bit of time to clean; I certainly was not going to put it back together with dirty parts! The other part that took me way longer than the video would indicate, was pounding the inner tub out of the bearing. This problem, of course could be specific to my job only, but after probably about half an hour with a large rubber mallet, I ended up going to a piece of hardwood and my 10 lb sledge hammer. I was worried about damaging other parts using this much force, but in my case it worked out. If I were to do it again, I would get some better rust busting fluid than the WD40 that I used. I would apply the fluid and let it sit for a bit. This would probably make this part of the job go better. Summary would be that if everything went smoothly like in the video I would probably have been able to do it in 2.5 hours (depending on how much cleaning was required). If I had to do it again tomorrow, I bet I could do it in 1.5 hours easy. I'm glad I replaced all tub seal as well, as with that size of job, the extra few bucks was worth the peace of mind that it probably wouldn't leak after putting it all back together. Washer is working great now! 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours
