I did some online research at Appliance Parts Pros and discovered the likely problem not to be an electrical component failure, but rather the failure of tiny plastic pins that hold an electrical micro switch in place. I ordered the bracket with new pins, transferred parts from old bracket to new, and the problem was solved! Thanks to APP for informative information, and getting the new part to me quickly.
