The spring-loaded latch that holds the water filter (#46 9999) in place in my Kenmore refrigerator (Model #253.70443411) was not working. No matter how many times I pressed the new cylindrical filter into place it would just pop out again. I researched the problem on the internet and ordered a new water filter base from AppliancePartsPros. The most difficult and frustrating thing about replacing the water filter base was removing the inlet/outlet hoses. Again I looked on the internet and found out that I had to press each of the blue round "washers" inward to get the hoses to release. The only way the filter would latch into place on the new water filter base was by attaching the large plastic housing (held in place by one screw) AFTER latching the new filter in place. That did the trick. Now I routinely check for leaks but no problem so far. Problem fixed!
