Surmised it was a water pump. Watched the videos on repair/replacement and it was simple. Unfortunately I missed the dry newspaper trick until after replacing and after replacing pump and using the trick realized it was the discharge hose. Its all good as I now have a new pump and discharge hose. A side note, I also purchased a center tub seal in the event I need to make that repair.
