I read on the 'Net all about the problem, unfortunately, there were about 15 different answers to my problem. I went to justanswers.com, the appliance section at 7 pm on Monday evening. Over the next couple of hours, I chatted with an expert. I figured it was time for a new dryer, but he told me to replace the drive motor.
I started snooping for the motor. The first place had it for about $86, Appliance Parts Pros had it for about $81. Not only was it cheaper, but shipping was much faster.
Thursday morning, I received the motor.
Friday morning, I started about 10 am. Not knowing what I was really doing, plus the fact that we cleaned everything as we went, it was slow going. Then I got online on my iPad and found a video on how to replace the drive motor. It was so easy after that. The wiring was different on the new motor, but the instructions that came with it showed exactly how to take care of that. Put everything back together and it's working fine.
So instead of spending $400 plus for a new dryer, I spent about $90 (including shipping) and 3.5 hours of my time and I learned something, too.
