Alan B Crown Point , IN January 23, 2018 Appliance: General Electric Gas Dryer DWSR405GB3WW The drum was squeaking and also it took longer than normal to dry clothes. After Googling this problem, I came back to this site because I have used them before and they have a lot of great repair videos. It had been some time since I've worked on a washer or dryer, but the symptoms I had matched up perfectly with the video showing the installation of new bearing slides. This repair is very easy if you can handle a screwdriver! And you can save a lot of money. My repair took longer because I am slow and methodical, and I also put a new coat of epoxy paint on the cover. I also guessed correctly that I was losing heat, so I ordered the new felt material as well as the blower gasket. I also installed new metal piping for the exhaust, with a short section of the flexible metallic hose so I can take it apart and clean it. I made an adapter from a 4 inch duct cap so I can attach it to my large shop vac and clean the dryer out. The old flex pipe was not dirty, but still is somewhat of a fire hazard. My gaskets and felt material is what did the trick in regards to drying time--I put a large load of towels in and they were dry before the alarm went off. Here's what impressed me the most about this company: I paid only $3 extra for faster shipping, and the parts arrived SUNDAY MORNING! I was so pleased, thinking that it would be Tuesday night before I could put it back together. I have used them in the past, and they will always be my go to company for parts! Read More...
