The Tower Heater Assembly Nut developed a crack over time due to heat exposure. So the leak was gradual slowly getting worse over time. It was a hairline crack that ran down one of the edges of the nut making it hard to see. In talking to a pro he said it isn't a common problem. It is all the way in the back of the bottom of the dishwasher so it is not something you can see without pulling the dishwasher out and running it. The repair itself is easy. I replaced the washers that go on the inside under the heating element just to be sure. But the old ones hadn't worn out at all. This stopped the leak. Elmer B Haw River , NC May 09, 2018 Appliance: General Electric Dishwasher PDW7880J01SS The dishwasher was not drying the dishes and the drain hose had a crack in it I found the parts through the G.E. parts manual and ordered them through Appliance Parts Pros. Replacement of parts was pretty easy with a couple of youtube videos. Parts were delivered promptly and well packaged. All in all about an hour of total time to get the tools together, pull the dishwasher from under the cabinet, and replace the parts. Also cleaned out filter assembly while I had the parts out.
