David G Wenham , MA May 10, 2019 Appliance: LG Washer WM8000HWA Massive leak front loading washer. To diagnose, I tipped the washer back on its own' legs and pored a single cup of water into the drum. Water immediately poured out the bottom of the tub cover (big white container around the drum). I could see a quarter coin protruding through the hole. Apparently a quarter got between the drum and the cover and was hammered through the cover by a bolt head on the spinning drum. I bought an OEM cover kit, a new seal, and some gasket pliers from AppliancePartsPros (all the things you need are listed in the AppliancePartsPros howto video). This was a bit over $300. It came with all the accessories attached. And it's fast, arriving the very next day from Kentucky to my place in Massachusetts. The video that AppliancePartsPros put together is really excellent and I had no trouble following it. I don't think a novice would have much trouble with this project. I did strip one of the drum joint circle flange holes in the new cover. Fortunately the design allows you to drill a through hole and then use a bolt instead of the screw. I just cobbled up my own bolt, nut, and lockwasher set. Another mistake I made was to order the front cover first thinking it was the correct one. I was in a hurry. That part costs about $70 and the USPS charged $40 to ship it back. Overall this business is high quality. The parts are OEM. The prices reflect that. The instructions are some of the best I've ever followed. The shipping is nearly instantaneous. You will pay what I think is a "fair" price for some high quality and no drama. Read More...
