Paul June 05, 2017 for Model Number fse748gfs0 The timer knob on my moms dryer has broke off. Part of the plastic is still on the metal piece coming out of the dryer. Can just the knob be replaced or does the control unit have to be replaced also. How do you access the control panel on this model?
1 Answer Paul, Yes, the timer dial control knob 131264905 / 131264905 can be replaced, You can usually remove the remaining portion of the knob shaft using a pair of needle nose pliers and pulling out on the remaining plastic shaft carefully. If you do need to access or remove the timer,, you will need to remove power to the dryer, remove the top panel (screws across the back of the cabinet) raise the top slightly and pull back on the panel to unhook it from the front control panel, then remove the two screws securing the timer to the control panel mounting plate and lift the timer up and out to access the timer dial shaft. Be careful, you don't want to damage the shaft or timer. Read More...
