This is the evaporator fan blade that mounts on the freezer fan motor. It circulates cold air across the evaporator coils and throughout the compartments to maintain even, reliable temperatures. What it does:

  • Moves air across the evaporator to cool and circulate airflow between freezer and fresh food sections
  • Helps prevent warm spots and temperature swings inside the refrigerator
  • Common failure signs include rattling/scraping noises from the freezer area
  • Needed if the fan isn't moving air, the blade is cracked/loose, or cooling is weak despite the compressor running
What's included:
  • 1 evaporator fan blade
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; wear cut-resistant gloves around sharp sheet metal
  • Remove shelves/drawers and the rear freezer panel to access the fan
  • Pull the old blade straight off the motor shaft; transfer any clip/retainer if present
  • Press the new blade fully onto the shaft; it spins freely without contacting the shroud before reassembly

Jeff, a five-bladed fan will slightly move more air than a four-blade fan, when properly installed on the fan motor shaft. The important consideration is the "pitch" of the blades, just like an airplane propeller, the "deeper" the pitch, the more air it moves, the faster the speed.

Ty, it could potentially cause a slight imbalance, however, it can be tested for imbalance by observation during operation. If the fan blade does not wiggle around during operation, then it does not have an imbalance issue.

Nelson, some fan blades have a natural stopping position, if not, push it far enough to get a good solid hold, temporarily mount it and see if it fits in the shroud ok, then adjust if needed.
