For Ge Medium Surface Burner (Part Number: OEM11618652)

Pat Thompson for Model Number PGP9036SL1SS

My new GE Profile Cooktop Gas Range was installed about 3 months ago. I love it. However, We have had the front left medium burner become coated and almost clogged with black gunk on the inside rim and in the slats. Twice. This last time it appears to have oozed out onto the stainless steel area. Looks more like amber oil cooked on when it seeps out from the burner part. We have not had any over flow of food onto the cook top. And we keep it spotless. It appears that the Burner is leaking something to cause this? Very black almost like baked motor oil. It cannot be easily cleaned as it bakes on before we even notice it under the top plate or cap. Your part online shows this as Gas Range Medium Burner (9500) WB16X24724. Is this the correct replacement part? What is causing this on a brand new cooktop???

Pat, The medium surface burner would be part number WB16K10055 There is nothing inside the unit that would be liquidity that would come out from the burner. If you are LP gas then make sure that the burner was converted to LP.

Hello Raj, according to the parts list for your model, the medium burner is the same as shown in the video. The burner just drops into the cooktop opening, if it is stuck it may be due to a build-up of food or spillage residue.

Bill for Model Number JGBP35WEJ1WW

Back left burner does not lite. Front burner lights, if I change front burner to the back and the back burner to the front back burner works and front burner does not. I have cleaned the burner that does not work with a wire brush, it looks cleaner than the ones that works. Also changed the burner caps with the one that works and the one that does not and the burner that works does work with ether cap and the burner that does not work will not work with ether cap.thanks for your help.

Bill, With the front burner not working but all others working then the issue would most likely be caused by a faulty burner valve. You will want to replace this to correct the issue.

Prose, You'll need to check or replace the burner valve WB21K20(example only). The internal components could be clogged with debris, or the internal components have come loose from the valve stem, and no gas is being supplied to the burner. You'll need to get the model number from the serial tag in order to get the proper valve.

Hello Mike. The only things that can cause this is the burner being dirty or the burner cap. Try cleaning the bottom of the cap with a wire brush. We need a good grounding point for the spark to lite the gas.
