Jenf August 28, 2019 for Model Number WSM2780TEWWB My dryer squeals when it's first starting up and then seems to stop once the unit has been tumbling for a bit. So I purchased the Drum Support Bearing (WE3X70) based on feedback from this site about the likely culprit. I was watching a video on replacing the whole Rear Drum Bearing kit (WE25X10001) and saw part of the Drum Support Bearing repair was to use grease/lubricant to put the ball bearing back into the Drum Support Bearing. Since I just ordered the Drum Support Bearing, am I going to need to find other grease to accomplish this? Is this necessary for proper installation of the new part?
1 Answer JenF., Replacing the Support Bearing will eliminate the issue. Yes, you want to liberally lubricate the bearing support with silicone-based grease. In a "pinch" White Lithium Grease will also work for a while but a silicone or synthetic based grease is best. Thanks, Read More...
Ron February 27, 2019 for Model Number DSXH47GG1WW How do you change a support bearing in a G E stack dryer?
1 Answer Ron, you will need to unplug and disassemble the dryer first by removing the top panel. From there, you will remove the control panel. Once the control panel is removed, you will want to remove the lower front panel and then the upper front panel. Once the panels are removed, you will want to remove the dryer belt, lift up on the rear of the drum and slide the drum forward and out of the cabin. This will give you access to change out the support bearing. Read More...
