Roberto December 27, 2013 for Model Number JB960AO8B2AA 2 years ago on Thanksgiving we discovered that our turkey took FOREVER to cook in our GE convection range (Model number: JB960AO8B2AA) A repairman was bought in who charged us an exorbitant amount to tap the fan blade which caused the fan to spin freely. Since then the oven has worked like a charm until, of course, when we put a turkey into cook this past Thanksgiving. The next day I tapped the fan blade and it spun freely for one or two revolutions before sticking again. This result happens consistently. The appliance repair shop that we use says that the motor probably needs to be replaced. Of course, they charge about $60 dollars more for the motor than you do -- not to mention that on top of that they want another $120 dollars just to come out to our house. Since the motor does manage to turn the fan blade for one or two revolutions it seems to me that the before it sticks again I assume the motor is functioning okay and that the problem lies elsewhere. So here are my questions. A) Am I wrong to assume that the motor itself is not the problem? B) If it is not the motor itself that is the problem, what are the likely remedies? (i.e. lubrication or perhaps the fan blade is out of alignment.) C) If I do have to replace the fan motor does the replacement include all of the parts I need or would I have to buy the fan blade separately? Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.
1 Answer Hello Roberto. It does sound like a bad fan motor. You should be able to use the old blade and have all you need to replace the motor on the unit. These are not to hard to replace. Make sure the power is off before doing the repair. Read More...

1 Answer Hello Wilfred. Test for power to the fan motor. If there is power there, you will need to replace the fan motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Jeffrey W October 22, 2012 I have a GE electric convection oven. The model is a JPB99. The fan and element are not working. I took the cover off the fan to see if it was frozen or had any impediments to it moving. It moved freely and the element looked okay. Reset power to the oven to see if it would impact the stove. Oven broils, cleans but the convection fan doesn't come on. The oven gets hot but food takes longer than it should to cook. What is the likely cause of this issue.
