The Handle Actuator is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. This component plays a role in the dishwasher's operation by linking the door handle to the latch mechanism. When you pull on the handle, the actuator engages the latch, allowing the door to open smoothly.

Symptoms of a failing handle actuator include:

  • Difficulty opening or closing the dishwasher door
  • The door not latching properly or staying closed
  • The handle feeling loose or unresponsive

Causes of handle actuator failure typically involve mechanical wear from regular use, material fatigue, or damage incurred from forceful handling of the dishwasher door.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hyo Lee for Model Number PDW7880G00SS

I'm trying to diagnose current problems of GE Dishwasher - Not responsive of START/Reset and other two selection keys (Cook Ware & Anti-bacteria) on the front display. After opening of the front cover, found a broken handle actuator pin and ordered the replacement parts for that actuator. Could you tell me what the role of handle actuator is for operation of the dishwasher? Do you think I need other parts to resolve for a proper operation of the dishwasher?

Hyo Lee, The handle actuator is for being able to latch the door closed and would have no bearing on the keypads not working. You will want to check the ribbon harness between the keypad and the control board to ensure that there is no damage to the harness and ensure that the harness is good and also check to make sure that there is no corrosion where it connects to the control board. If this checks ok then the keypad would be the issue.

Cheryl, Your handle actuator will go on the end of the handle retainer. The spring will hook around the handle and attach to the handle retainer.

Hello Jerry. Access the inside of the door. Slide the spring onto the actuator hinge pin and hook the spring into the hole on the actuator WD13X10045. Snap the actuator into the bracket, making sure the spring arm rests in the channel of the actuator bracket. Install the handle and reassemble the door on the unit.
