The Harness Switch is an OEM replacement part for GE gas ranges. Internally wired to the electronic control board, it regulates power distribution to the burner ignitors.

When a surface knob is turned, the switch instantly routes electricity enabling the igniter to spark and ignite selected gas jets beneath cookware. Integrated temperature sensors then signal switch maintained burner activity.

Causes of failure relate to standard thermal cycling without damage. Accumulated grime could potentially disrupt connections over years of stovetop cooking particulates.

Symptoms include:

  • Inability to light specific gas burners by knob selection
  • Range may indicate error codes relating to unresolved ignition sequences.

This GE OEM replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Lucky, Since the power to the control panel is not working, you will first want to make sure that you have power to the control board. If you check between L1 and N there should be 120 vac. If not then you will need part number WB27K10354.

Glenn B. for Model Number Model Number JGP328BEC2BB Serial # MD799902Q

While no burners were being used all four igniters started sparking without being manually turned on. So I would like to know if it is the Harness Switch or Spark Module, because Harness Switch Hooked to the power (black wire) 120 VOLTS then reading the Yellow wire with switches off I still read 120 VOLTS which should have no voltage to feed the Spark Module right. All the Igniter work (they spark) there is no cracks in the porcelain to go to ground or shorts in the wire to the Igniters. The Spark Module has four wires that go to the Igniters then one wire to ground then stud and then a – for the white wire, +for the 120 volt that comes from the Harness Switchs, ( Yellow wire) and the other end to the Hot from the house 120 volts black wire, so when you turn a switch on it feeds the Spark Module, is that right ?

Hi Glenn. Yes, if you are reading the 120 vac through the "open" switch, then you will need to replace the harness assy. This is part # WB18T10339. Thank You.
