This replacement door hinge supports and controls the oven door's movement so it opens smoothly and closes securely against the gasket. Replacing a worn hinge restores proper alignment and sealing to help maintain consistent temperatures and safe operation. What it does:

  • Provides the pivot and spring tension for controlled door motion
  • Helps the door close fully to maintain a proper seal
  • Promotes smooth, balanced opening to prevent slamming or binding
  • Common symptoms: door won't close fully, sits uneven, drops open, or feels loose/noisy
What's included:
  • One door hinge
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and allow the appliance to cool completely before servicing
  • Remove the door per your model's instructions; support the door and engage hinge locks if equipped
  • Replace the hinge using existing mounting hardware; inspect hinge receivers for wear
  • Reinstall the door and verify alignment and gasket contact; replacing both hinges together can help maintain even tension

Randy, The door hinge on the unit will be part number WB10T10007. Lubricating the hinge would really do nothing for the hinge and unfortunately, the manufacturer does not list a complete door assembly as being available.

Gail, If the glass is not on the unit then this would be the cause for the door not to stay open. The glass adds the added weight to pull it all the way down.

Jim M. for Model Number JBP79W0B1WW

I had trouble opening door beyond approx 4 inches. It seemed hung up on left side. Called GE Service and the Tech who came said I needed anew hinge. He gave me a price of $331.58 for replacement of TWO hinges....said I'd probably need the right hinge in 2-3 months. Although unit is 10 yrs old this oven has had limited use compared to the 40 yr old unit it replaced. My question: Is this replacement something an untrained person can do? Do you have instructions? Thanks

Hello Jim. You will need to open the door and remove the screws located underneath the cooktop. This will enable you to lift up the cooktop enough the side panels out. To remove the panels, you will have to slide the unit out and unscrew the screws holding the side panels on. They should slide out forward, then you will have access to the hinge WB10T10007. Here is a link that will show you how to remove the door from the hinge: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=31-10463.pdf . Hope you find this information helpful!
