For Ge Hinge French (Part Number: OEM13035507)

Thor for Model Number PFSS6PKXASS

Hello! I am confused why the entire french (“flipper”) assembly (part number WR02X12669) needs to be replaced when all parts of that assembly are intact and functional EXCEPT the “flipper” assembly is simply not springing into its correct position (flat) when the left door is opened. I understand the “mullion” spring (with 2 dog legs at the Bottom of the French assembly) holds the Flipper “out” when the refrigerator door is closed - so, IS / ISN’T THERE ANOTHER SPRING SOMEWHERE INSIDE THE FRENCH (“flipper”) ASSEMBLY THAT CAN (needs to) BE REPLACED SO THAT THE french (“flipper”) assembly goes into its flush position upon opening the left door? Thanks in advance, it just seems counter intuitive to replace an entire assembly when the spring that forces the assembly into its correct position appears to be the only part that is not functioning.

Thor, Based on the information provided it is unfortunate but the manufacturer does not make that spring available, it is sold as part of the complete flipper assembly. Part number WR02X12669

Hello Morris, the cover is held in place by 2 small screws, the heads of which have white plastic cap covers, use a small screwdriver and pry off the caps to expose the screws.

Frank, replacing these parts can be easier if done on a flat surface, but it can be done without removing the mullion. In regards to the plastic piece, if it is broken, it would need to be replaced.

Help Please for Model Number PFSS6SKXA5S

The French Hinge on the left side door seems to be failing and has to be manually moved to close the door. Reading comments above makes me think that the door was opened from the left side repeatedly and causing the top hinge WR13X10516 part to fail. Does this part come with a spring or how does this part work? The instructions posted on how to remove this part in the previous questions did not mention a spring. Is there a place where I can see a video of the installment of the part or manual to install?

Help Please, Yes, the hinge and cam does involve a spring [WR02X12810] in fact there are several parts involved [WR02X12666] closer cam, [WR13X10546] hinge. Here is some basic "teardown" information:" Remove two closure mechanism covers (one over each door).Remove three Phillips screws from hinge cover. • Disconnect plugs, door switches, water line and ground wires. • Remove three 10mm screws from each hinge assembly. • Lift doors off center hinge." Once you have the door hinge removed you'll be able to determine which component has failed. If you should need more information please include an E mail address, so we can send you the illustrated information we do have. Thanks
