The Kit Felt and Instruction is an OEM part for GE dryers. This kit includes felt seals and instructions necessary for installation. The felt seals help create a barrier between the drum and the front panel, retaining heat inside the dryer and ensuring efficient drying. They also reduce friction and wear on the drum and front panel.

Causes of a bad felt seal can include regular wear and tear, high heat exposure, or damage from foreign objects inside the dryer. A compromised felt seal can lead to inefficient drying and potential damage to the dryer components.

Symptoms of a bad felt seal include:

  • Clothes taking longer to dry
  • Excessive lint buildup inside the dryer
  • Unusual noises during the drying cycle
  • Visible damage or gaps in the felt seal

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Dryer In Distress! for Model Number GE DPVH890GJMV

Hello, we have a problem with the felt seal on our dryer. We ordered two replacements, part #WE9M47. The first one installed without a hitch, but partially came out a few loads later. It wasn't significantly damaged so I replaced it, but one load later it was out again. So, I replaced it with the second new seal. Two days later, it was twisted up in a ball on the bottom of the dryer. Each time I install it, I start on the right side where I wrap it around the clip and bend it down, running it through the wiring clips so it's extra-secure. Then I wrap it around the dryer intake and make sure it clips into every one of the clips along the way. Finally, I lock it in place on the left side just like I did on the right. I've confirmed that every part of it is tight and secure. I have no idea how our moderate loads are causing this. I don't seem to see any significant wear elsewhere in the dryer (it's about 4 years old, about 4-5 loads a week). This model does not require adhesive because of the clips that the seal is installed into. Is there something we are not doing correctly? Did we get the correct part number (it seems to fit perfectly)? I wish there was a video for this model dryer, as it is different than other videos I've seen online. Please help!

Hello. it sounds like you are installing it properly and it is the correct seal. Maybe the drum is bad and is catching the seal. Look for bad spots in the drum. Also, make sure the top bearing and glides are good in the unit.
