Carol March 12, 2014 for Model Number JVM1540SM4ss Is two 40 watt bulbs ok to use in my over-the-range microwave as there are no 30 watts around? Please let me know as it seems hot in microwave but it work low and high and I do like more light over my stove.
1 Answer Hello Carol, I would not recommend to put a larger wattage bulb in since this completely changes the current flow in the circuit and can cause damage to the wiring and the power supply, (the power supply is on the control board). This can cost you much more than you want to pay, especially if it were to cause the unit to be a potential fire hazard. Read More...
Ken February 09, 2014 for Model Number zsc2001fss The microwave not heating anymore makes a different noise when turned on. Can this be serviced or do I have to get a new one?
1 Answer Hello Ken. You most likely have a "high voltage" side malfunction. Transformer, diode, magnetron, Capacitor. You will need to be extremely careful if you decide to test the components with a multi meter, Very high residual voltage is present, so make sure you remove power to the microwave and short across the terminals on the capacitor. The magnetron should have a reading of less than 1 ohm resistance across the two terminals, and an "open" circuit between each terminal and chassis ground. The diode/rectifier should have a resistance reading in one direction only, no resistance, or resistance in both directions indicate a faulty diode. The primary winding on the trans former should read approximately 450 Ohms resistance, the secondary winding should read 80 ohms resistance, and the filament transformer should read 100 ohms resistance. If all the readings are proper and in range, replace the magnetron. Read More...
Arnold January 11, 2014 for Model Number JNM1541SM2S This unit has 2 surface lights The high light burned out. Ace hardware sold me a 40 watt bulb. After putting this in I don't get the high light light by itself. When I press the light switch once no light comes, when I press it again both lights come on but it is not very bright.
1 Answer Arnold, The reason the light will not turn on when you hit the light switch the first time would be because the light bulb that you got was a single bulb not dual bulb. The bulb you would need would be like a dimmer bulb where it has 2 settings. Part number [WB36X10328] would be what is needed. Read More...

Terry June 21, 2012 for Model Number JVM1540SM2SS Bottom surface lights are out. I replaced both bulbs and still no lights. Any suggestions on what the problem might be and how to fix it?
1 Answer Hi Terry. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Double check with the unit wiring harness. See if you have 120 vac output from the control board part # WB27X10931 at the lamp relay on the yellow wire to chassis ground when you call for the light switch to come on. Thank You. Read More...
Frank S. January 10, 2012 for Model Number jvm1631BJ01 I have a problem with the counter lights. I replaced the bulbs, because they were burned out. Now when i tunr on the counter lights, they come one for only a second andturn off. When i replaced the bulbs yesterday they worked, today the issue is as described above. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Frank. Test and see if they are loosing power. If so, replace the control board WB27X10712. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
