Bill, As long as there is not leak when the gas is being supplied to the burner then there would be no issue with the nut being stripped. If there is gas leaking then it will need to be replaced.

Duane for Model Number ZGU375NSD1SS

I am having trouble removing this tube-nut. It just keeps spinning and not rotating up. I assume that the jet holder under the stainless surface is loose and is rotating with this tube-nut. I have tried pulling up on the nut as I turn it, but that is not helping. I saw that someone else had the same problem, but I don't see how a chiseling off the nut will be the solution. The nut is part of the brass tube. I cannot access the underside of the stainless cover. Thanks.

Hello Duane. If you chisel it off, then you can remove the cover from the unit. That is the reason for removing it.
