Causes of a bad orifice holder can include cracks or wear allowing gas to leak over time. Residue buildup may cause the holder to stick or prevent proper fit.

Symptoms of a bad orifice holder include: 

• Burner flames that appear too high or too low and unstable
• Differences in flame size or cooking power between burners
• Gasoline-like smell indicates leaks around the holder
