The Solenoid Assembly is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. It plays a crucial role in controlling the flow of water into the dishwasher by activating or deactivating the drain valve. This assembly is essential for ensuring that the dishwasher fills and drains at the correct times during the wash cycle, which is pivotal for the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the appliance.

Common causes for a Solenoid Assembly to fail include wear and tear over time, mineral buildup from hard water, or electrical failures that prevent the solenoid from operating as intended.

Symptoms of a bad Solenoid Assembly include:

  • Failure of the dishwasher to drain properly, leading to water accumulation at the bottom.
  • The dishwasher not filling with water as it should, affecting the cleaning process.
  • Unusual noises coming from the dishwasher, which may indicate the solenoid is failing to engage or disengage correctly.

This OEM GE part can also be used on Hotpoint, RCA, and Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Stephen, This would not be a solenoid issue but would be more likely that the piston and Nut assembly is faulty. The part number for the piston and nut assembly is WD24X10018.

Could it be the timer

1 Answer

Leonard, You will want to check the wiring between the drain solenoid and the timer. Also check the internal working for the pump. If all this checks ok then the issue will be a faulty timer.

Leonard, You will want to check the solenoid for the drain. It sounds like the solenoid may have burnt out and would need to be replaced. The part number for the solenoid is [AP3994907.

Rachael, You will want to check inside the pump to make sure that there is nothing in the pump that would cause a restriction. Also check the impeller of the pump to ensure that it is not damaged.

Hello Charles, You will need to check the impeller for debris, the drain line for obstructions, and the drain pump for a separated impeller, (since the impeller is plastic and the motor shaft is stainless steel, it is common for the impeller to spin freely on the motor shaft, causing the pump to be incapable of moving water). If all of the screens are clear, one of these will be the issue.
