The Door Stop is an OEM component for GE refrigerator models. It is a small component located at the base of the refrigerator door that stops the door from opening past 90 degrees.

Symptoms of a bad door stop include:

  • Door being able to open past 90 degrees
  • Hitting other parts of the refrigerator or interior shelves

Causes of a bad door stop include cracking or breaking of the plastic material due to impact or excess force on the door over its lifespan. Small flaws present during manufacturing could also lead to premature wear. With its compact design and durable plastic, the door stop safely limits door movement.

This OEM GE part is also compatible with some Kenmore refrigerator models.

Susan, If the door stop at its tightest is still pulling away from the door of the refrigerator then it sounds like the screw holes may be stripped or rounded out bigger than the screw. If this is the case you may want to see if you can put a bigger screw into it to keep it from moving around. If this does not work then the only thing you could do is replace the door of the refrigerator.

Hello Tom. The door stop WR02X10782 is the part that stops the door from swinging too far. To replace it you must take off the top door hinge and remove the door. The door stop mounts on the bottom of the door with 2 screws. You might be able to fix the old one without removing the door if it is just bent. Otherwise, replacement is the only alternative. Hope this was helpful!
