This assembly stores ice and delivers it from the ice maker to the dispenser. Replace it when the bin is cracked, warped, or its drive components are damaged, causing weak dispensing, jams, or being stuck on one ice type.

  • Stores ice and interfaces with the dispenser system to deliver cubes or crushed ice
  • Resolves no or weak ice dispensing
  • Corrects grinding/clicking noises or auger jamming from a damaged bin
  • Addresses visible cracks, broken tabs, or a bucket that won't seat securely
What's included: 1 ice bucket assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the refrigerator before servicing
  • Open the door and pull the old bucket straight out; depress any release tab if equipped
  • Align and seat the new assembly fully so the drive coupling engages—do not force it
  • Restore power and test the dispenser (cube and crush selections)

Questions & Answers

For Lg Ice Bucket Assembly (Part Number: OEM21701589)

1 Answer

Larry, a complete model number is pretty essential when determining a service issue. We don't believe the ice bin is the issue, and there are a few checks to make first. has the water filter been replaced recently? Is the refrigerator level do the doors close and seal properly(including the ice maker compartment door) does the dispenser cube dispenser flapper close and seal? Check the fill spout for the ice maker for ice or clogs, water flowing down the walls when the ice maker fills. Are the ice cubes formed properly or are they distorted or have icicles/points on the end of the cube? this could indicate an issue in the fill valve or water supply.

Dave, Unfortunately there is no illustrated or written description of how to reassemble the ice bucket assembly. The manufacturer does not have this as they do not offer individual parts for the bucket but is only available as a whole.
