The Water Filter Bypass is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It is used when you choose not to use a water filter in your refrigerator. This bypass plug allows water to flow directly to the dispenser and ice maker without being filtered, ensuring continuous operation even when a filter is not installed.

Causes of a bad water filter bypass can include damage to the bypass plug, clogging from debris, or wear and tear over time. If the bypass plug is not functioning properly, it can disrupt the water flow and lead to issues with the ice maker and water dispenser.

Symptoms of a bad water filter bypass include:

  • Reduced water flow or no water flow to the dispenser
  • Ice maker not producing ice
  • Water leaks around the bypass plug area

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore.
