The Lid Seal is an OEM replacement part for Magic Chef chest freezers. Situated around the perimeter of the freezer lid, the seal works to create an airtight barrier between the inside of the freezer and the exterior environment. This ensures cold air remains trapped inside to efficiently maintain sub-freezing temperatures.

Symptoms of a bad lid seal include:

  • Frost or condensation forming on the exterior of the freezer lid
  • Difficulty opening and closing the lid due to reduced air pressure seal
  • Interior freezer temperatures fluctuating above the set point

Causes of a bad lid seal can be deterioration of the rubber over time from weathering and temperature fluctuations, wear and tear from opening and closing the lid frequently, or accidental damage.

This lid seal is essential for maintaining the efficiency and performance of your Magic Chef chest freezer.

It is possible to destroy the gasket by overheating so be careful when manipulating the gaskets' shape. The cooling process can be accellerated by rubbing an ice cube on the gasket while it is in the desired shape.
