Jesse, Either the water valve on the unit is seeping allowing water to flow through when the icemaker is not calling for water or the icemaker tray is warped allowing the icemaker to drip water from it when it fills. It would be recommended to check the icemaker first and if the tray is not warped then replace the water valve.

Dan for Model Number RB215LASH

Our fridge is eight years old and mostly works great. We have never used a filter before on the water line to the ice maker since the tap water coming in should taste good enough. Our only problem now is that the ice is starting to taste moldy--we have been noticing that for about 3 months now. I would hate to have to get into the water filter buying/replacing habit. ... Could it be that the "Assy-Pipe Water" tube is where the mold taste is coming from? Maybe I should buy a replacement for that before I bother trying to find a compatible water filter? thanks for any advice.

Hello Dan. Take the unit apart and look for mold. Usually a filter will not fix this issue. You will need to remove the tubes and icemaker and inspect them.

Hello Scott. It is a low wattage heater used to keep the fill tube from freezing.

Hello Wendy. You will need to undo the wires behind the icemaker going to the assembly DA97-18245B. Once removed, you will pull the refrigerator out and use a flat blade putty or butter knife and remove the assembly from the back of the refrigerator. Once removed, you will undo the water line from the valve assembly. Reinstall in reverse order. Hope this helps.
