Kb March 19, 2018 for Model Number 10674206402 How do I check the continuity on my air baffle? I get an ohms reading if I put it in the second and third slots, (middle and end) but not any other combination. Does it need replacing? or am I checking the wrong thing on my multimeter?
1 Answer KB, The air baffle for this unit will not have wires as it is not a auto diffuser. If it does have connections then you will want to check to make sure that there is power going to the diffuser. Read More...
Amy December 19, 2014 for Model Number 106.74206401 Refrigerator area is freezing food. Technician changed thermistor and elec. control board; problem still existed. Came back and said he misdiagnosed problem. Air baffles allowing cold air from freezer to refrigerator are stuck open. Said air damper assembly (diffuser) parts are no longer available. Looks like you might sell it....yes?

Andi K. November 07, 2013 for Model Number Kenmore Elite 106.74203400 2005.02 Hello, Parts/Repair question: Starting a month ago, fridge shelves would pool with water, and then at some point freeze. Over time (and after vacuuming off the back of the fridge), it appears this problem is somehow linked to the ice maker. When the ice maker is turned on, the refrigerator section will freeze up. (Including all the food/drink.) The vents will also be dripping. When the ice maker is turned off, either manually or the tray is full of ice, the refrigerator shelves will defrost and more water will enter the fridge through the vents. Also, sometimes the unit will make a loud popping noise, although the noise has been happening for a while before this recent issue. Any idea what might be wrong? I thought maybe the air baffle needed replacement, but after speaking with James in Tech Support, I'm not so sure... He suggested I contact you through here. Thanks so much for your time. I can be reached by email or phone: Andi
1 Answer Andi, It actually sounds more like a defrost or defrost drain tube issue ( clogged ?) Check and make sure both doors close and seal properly to the refrigerator cabinet flange and theres nothing blocking or holding either door open slightly. You'll need to remove the evaporator cover and ice maker. and check to see how much ice is built up on the coils, and if there is ice accumulated in the defrost drain pan [2254295] If the drain pan or drain tube are blocked and frozen, the defrost water will overflow through the vents in the freezer, it will also flow through the damper assembly and drip down onto the shelves in the refrigerator. The popping noise could be normal, water dripping onto the heater element, or it could be the drain pan or coils popping because of the temperture change when the heater is on and the exess ice or frost on the coils or pan.
