Bonnie March 29, 2011 for Model Number DU7C-20 I was looking for a picture of how the cables and eyelet assembles are attached to the frame of the dishwasher. A repair procedure of greater detail than "uninstall the dishwasher." Is that possible?
1 Answer Bonnie, There is little or no information available for your vintage dishwasher. But, I hope this helps. It's probably best for you to partially remove the dishwasher. Remove the 4 screws that hold the lower access panel and kickplate to the front frame of the unit. Turn the power and the water off to the machine, and disconnect the water supply line and power conduit from the unit. Remove the 2 screws, holding the unit to the underside of the countertop, and slide the unit out approximately 5 inches. On the back end of the hinge, you will find a mounting tab for the door spring cable. The rectangular end, with the rectangular opening of the cable will be slipped onto the end tab, the cable will be routed under(on the bottom) of the white plastic roller. Install 1 spring in 1 of the holes in the triangular shaped end of the cable, repeat the same procedure on the opposite side hinge and roller. Once the cables and 1 spring is installed, install the other tension spring. You will probably want to use a pair of pliers to manupulate the spring and or cable, and you may want to put a few drops of household oil on the roller shafts while you have the cables removed.
