Hello Juergen, Some refrigerator controls only show the temperature settings for each compartment, others will show the actual current temperature readings.We need your refrigerator model number to assist you further. Also a description of what is occurring, such as can you hear a fan running inside either compartment,does the rear wall in the freezer have a layer of frost showing,have you tried unplugging refrigerator from outlet for a minute then reconnect.

Michelle, To replace the overlay, remove the drip tray and the 2 screws 1/4 hex head. Lift the panel off the refrigerator door and lay on a protected surface. Remove the control board on the back and flip over the trim. Peel the old membrane switch off the unit. You will want to make sure that you clean the surface with rubbing alcohol or goo gone. Install the new membrane making sure that is in place properly. Reassemble the unit.
