The Control Board is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dishwashers. As the "brain" of the appliance, it monitors and directs all functions of the dishwasher through integrated electronic components and circuitry.

Causes of a bad control board can include damage from power surges, liquid spills inside the unit, or simply normal wear over many cycles of use. Electronic failures within the board's circuitry are also possible causes.

Symptoms of a bad control board include:

  • The dishwasher fails to turn on or start cycles
  • Lights, displays, or cycles activating unexpectedly
  • Inability to scroll through menu options on the display
  • Cycles not completing or repeating portion of cycles
  • Error codes appearing frequently on the display

The board is also compatible with machines from brands like Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore.

Joe, Based on the keypad beeping, the issue with the unit may be caused by a faulty keypad. Almost sounds like the unit is going into the control lockout mode or the unit is not sensing that the door was opened. So could be a door latch issue. You will want to check the switches to make sure that they are opening as the unit will not allow the unit to cycle if it does not show that the door has opened.
