This front counterweight mounts to the washer's outer tub to help balance and stabilize the drum during spin. Replacing a damaged weight can reduce vibration and noise and help prevent the machine from walking. What it does:

  • Adds mass at the front of the tub to counterbalance loads during spin
  • Helps control vibration, shaking, and banging noises
  • Can resolve out-of-balance interruptions or excessive movement
  • Visible cracks or broken mounting ears indicate the weight needs replacement
What's included:
  • One front counterweight
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and water; use proper lifting techniques—this part is heavy
  • Support the tub and remove front cabinet components/door boot as needed for access
  • Remove and retain mounting bolts; tighten bolts evenly when reinstalling
  • Inspect mounting points and suspension components while accessible; replace if worn

Dale, There are a couple of possibilities of what could be going on. You will want to check the shocks to make sure that they are not damaged. Open the door of the unit and push up on the tub of the unit, make a 1/3 rotation and do the same thing til you go all the way around. If there is any lateral motion of the inner tub from the outer tub then the spider is broken and would need to be replaced.

Rich L. for Model Number 110.42932.200

Out of Balance condition - Changed the 4 shocks, checked both counter weights - front and rear both are ok ( I have no idea how this systems works with different weight loads :) ), Check rear bearing for looseness - ok.. As soon as it starts to spin the basket will start to shake left to right... The only thing I can think of now are the 2 supporting springs... Your suggestions would be appreciated to resolve this issue - Oh yes - 1" plywood under the washing machine ..

Hello Rich. Make sure nothing is between the inner and outer tubs. If not, the the bearing is the problem, and you will need to replace the outer tub assembly W10772618. Usually the springs do not cause this problem. Hope this helps.
