The Upper Dish Rack is an OEM replacement part  for Whirlpool dishwashers. Located on the upper level inside the tub, it provides an area for washing smaller dishes, utensils, and glasses.

Causes of a bad upper dish rack can include warping or cracking of plastic materials from prolonged use or excess weight loads. Mineral buildup over time may cause rack shelves to become rigid.

Symptoms include:

  • Inability to fit or hold delicate items securely
  • Dishes or glassware falling or shifting during rotation
  • Food particles or residue collecting on lower surfaces
  • Loose or misaligned rack shelves that don't dry properly

Compatible models include Maytag, Amana, KitchenAid, and select Kenmore dishwashers.

Marco for Model Number GU2700XTSQ1

I moved into a new home that has a Whirlpool GU2700XTSQ1. Here are the issues I am facing: - Cups in the top rack get residue mostly inside, but some outside as well. The residue looks like small grains or sand and it is kind of stuck to the cups. - Dishes on the bottom rack mostly get clean with a few exceptions that either are not cleaned well, or have some sort of lose residue. - Silverware mostly come out dirty, especially when they had something like cream cheese. Here is what I have done so far: - Closed and opened the hot water register under the sink to ensure it was not stuck and that it was fully opened. - Washed the dishwasher twice with vinegar. - Disassembled the plastic tube and the middle and lower spray arm. Took out the strainer cover and the food chopper assembly. Found a lot of residue and gunk (old dishwasher soap leftovers?) all over: behind the tube, in the strainer, in the chopper area, at the top of the dishwasher, on the side and on the bottom where the door touches, on the rails and sides of the racks, etc. I've never seen anything like that! The chopper assembly was in perfect condition. The lower and middle spay arms seemed to be clean and without visible defects. The small top rotating arm seemed dirty. - Noticed some black marks inside the tub, what seems result of some of the black rubber pieces (like the door seal and other black plastic parts inside) deteriorating. When rubbing, they stain the tub as if grease (hard to clean). - Spent hours cleaning everything and the reassembled. - Ran a quick rinse cycle with vinegar. After all this work, the problem persists, no improvement whatsoever. I am using Cascade Complete (gel), and setting the machine for adaptive wash, hi-temp wash and heated dry. So, my question are: 1- Is it normal for a dishwasher accumulate so much residue all over? Wasn't it supposed to "self clean" while washing? 2- Why after cleaning all the residue I found it is still performing such a poor job? Thank you

Hello Marco. It sounds like the unit may not be filling properly. If not, the water valve WPW10158389 will need to be replaced. This will cause the dishes to be gritty and dirty if so.

Hello Jane, We are only able to offer the parts offered by the manufacturer. The parts for the racks in this model have to be ordered seperately and assembled. I'm sorry, but no pre-assembled racks are available for this model.
