The  Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool ice machines. It removes melted water from the harvest and storage bin to allow continuous ice production. This pump assembly contains the electric drain pump motor and impeller which work together to discharge drain water through the outlet hose.

Causes of a bad drain pump assembly can include wear due to heavy use over time, a buildup of mineral deposits or other debris clogging the impeller, or failure of the motor itself.

Symptoms of a bad drain pump assembly include:

  • Standing water in the storage bin
  • Inability to harvest or store ice
  • Strange noises or vibrations coming from the pump area
  • Leaks from around the pump housing

This genuine OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Mick, Unfortunately we do not have information showing which tube goes where but when looking at the pump on the side where the ports are, the one from the cabinet drain would go to the first port, the drain hose to the house would go to the second port and the last one is you air gap tub that runs up the back of the unit.

Hello Libby. It sounds like the float in the pump is stuck. If so, and you can not free it up, you will need to replace the pump on the unit.

Hi- I have a Kitchenaid icemaker, model KUIP15PRXX and need to install a condensate drain pump. I am a bit confused- the unit calls for a Whirlpool 1901a pump (retail $499), but notice the pump is made by Beckett W10122062 - which goes for around $250. The 1901a shows "pump and accessories". What accessories make up $250? The brackets and tubing, clamps etc? I can probably salvage those from my older icemaker that I am replacing, also a Kitchenaid 15" and same pump (unit looks identical to my new unit). Would appreciate your advice before I order the wrong thing! Thank you!

Bill, The pumps appear to be the same and the only difference being that the tubing and hoses come with the 1901a.
