Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Evap. Fan Blade (Part Number: OEM12029394)

Greg for Model Number sxd25mp2l

Frosting up and not cooling fridge. air does not circulate and all works well (defrost timer, defrost thermostate, defrost heater). Evaporator fan turns when it is supposed to, but I cannot feel any air moving. I think it is slipping as it is kind of loose. Does a new blade not turn easily on axis? if I hold the axel I can flip the blade easily around it, although not freely. If I don't hold the axel the axel spins with the blade. if I twist the axel quickly between my thumb and finger it turns but the blade slips and lags beind. hope this detail will tell you what I am experiencing.

Hello Greg. The fan blade is fine based on the information you provided, it should spin if the shaft is stopped. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Regina. You will not need any parts to install the fan blade 12033101. It presses onto the fan motor shaft to lock into place. Hope this helps.
